This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use Dumt, our AR-powered space design tool that lets you preview decor and furniture in your physical space before purchasing.
1. Introduction
At Dumt, we prioritize your privacy as much as we prioritize building a fun, practical space design experience. We only collect the information necessary to power our AR features, save your design projects, and improve the product for all users. This policy applies to all Dumt mobile applications, web platforms, and related services.
Important note: We never access your device camera, photo library, or location data without your explicit, opt-in permission. We never capture photos, recordings, or sensor data in the background of your device.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information that you intentionally provide to us, or that is required to operate core Dumt features:
Content you create: Photos of your rooms, desks, or spaces that you capture through the Dumt camera; your saved design layouts, rotated/scaled virtual decor placements, multi-concept projects, and style preference selections you make within the app.
Device & sensor data (optional): If you grant permission, we collect brief gyroscope, accelerometer, and depth sensor data only during active AR sessions to accurately place virtual items on your physical surfaces. This data is not stored after your AR session ends unless you opt in to product improvement programs.
Account information (optional): If you choose to create a Dumt account to sync your projects across devices, we collect your email address and any profile details you choose to add. You can use all core Dumt features without creating an account, with all data stored locally on your device.
Usage data: Anonymous, aggregated data about which features you use, how often you save projects, and which decor categories you interact with, used only to improve Dumt functionality and user experience.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information exclusively to provide and improve the Dumt experience:
Power AR space recognition and virtual decor placement functionality during your design sessions
Save your design projects, preferences, and layouts so you can access and edit them later
Sync your projects across devices if you have created a Dumt account
Personalize decor and furniture recommendations if you opt in to receive personalized content
Troubleshoot technical issues and respond to your support requests
Run anonymous analysis to improve AR accuracy, add popular decor categories, and optimize app performance
4. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We will never sell, rent, or lease your personal information or design content to third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. We only share your information in the following limited cases:
When you intentionally share your design projects with other users or external platforms, only the content you choose to share will be visible to the parties you select
With trusted service providers who help us operate Dumt (for example, cloud hosting providers who store your synced project data), who are contractually required to protect your data and only use it to provide services to Dumt
When we are required to disclose information to meet applicable legal obligations, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Dumt, our users, and the public
5. Your Rights & Controls
You maintain full control over your data at all times:
You can delete individual photos, design projects, or all your Dumt data at any time directly from the app settings
You can revoke permissions for camera, sensor, or photo library access at any time through your device settings (note that this may limit the functionality of some Dumt features)
You can export a full copy of all your Dumt data, including your projects and account information, by submitting a request to our support team
You can opt out of personalized recommendations and anonymous usage data collection at any time from the app settings
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard encryption for all data in transit and at rest. We regularly run security audits and updates to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. While no digital security system is completely impenetrable, we continuously update our safeguards to keep your data as secure as possible.
If you choose to store your data locally on your device instead of syncing to our cloud, we do not have access to any of your design projects or photos, and security of that data is managed by your device's operating system security controls.
7. Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy periodically to reflect changes to our features, legal requirements, or data practices. We will notify you of any material changes via in-app notification at least 30 days before the new policy takes effect. Your continued use of Dumt after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
